BH Telecom Hosts Connect Europe Conference

From October 16 to 17, one of the most important regional telecommunications conferences — the 71st General Assembly of Connect Europe — is being held in Sarajevo. This prestigious event brings together leaders from the telecom sector, decision-makers, and regulatory bodies from across Europe with the goal of jointly shaping the future of digital connectivity and technological innovation.

As the conference host, BH Telecom highlights this opportunity not only as a chance to present itself as a technological leader in the region but also as a platform to enhance cooperation and knowledge exchange with colleagues from the European telecom industry. BH Telecom has long been a driver of digital transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Connect Europe is a key partner in realizing national and regional strategic goals.

Alongside BH Telecom, many renowned telecom operators and regulatory bodies will have representatives in Sarajevo, including Deutsche Telekom, A1 Telekom Austria Group, BT, Orange, as well as numerous regional operators such as Hrvatski Telekom, Telekom Srbija, Crnogorski Telekom, and others, as well as representatives from European regulatory institutions. This diversity of participants further emphasizes the significance of the conference as a regional platform for dialogue and cooperation.

Over the three-day conference, key topics will cover the main challenges and opportunities in modern telecommunications: from the development of 5G infrastructure, regulatory policies, and data security to the concept of smart cities. BH Telecom will particularly present its innovative strategies for expanding network coverage and improving service quality, as well as its efforts to implement advanced technologies aimed at digital inclusion and strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina’s competitiveness on the global stage.

The panel workshop will open with a welcoming speech by Alessandro Gropelli, Director of Connect Europe, an organization representing key European service providers and infrastructure operators in the digital connectivity sector. Gropelli is an expert in technology, telecommunications, and digital policy. This will be followed by remarks from Amel Kovačević, CEO of BH Telecom. His speech will set the tone for the panel discussion, which will delve deeper into the evolving role of telecommunications in national development.

BH Telecom is not just a telecom operator — it is a strategic driver of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s digital ambitions. With a mandate that goes beyond connectivity itself, BH Telecom is shaping the foundations for the country’s next digital decade through innovation, data infrastructure, and digital services.

Amel Kovačević, CEO of BH Telecom, emphasized the importance of this event for Bosnia and Herzegovina:

“Hosting the 71st General Assembly of Connect Europe is a great honor and confirms that Sarajevo has become one of the key centers for telecommunications cooperation in the region. For us at BH Telecom, this gathering is an opportunity to exchange experiences with leading European companies and regulators and define future directions for digital infrastructure development. We believe this conference will further strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s position on Europe’s digital map and bring concrete benefits to our users and society as a whole.”

The organization of this prestigious event in Sarajevo confirms the status of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital as a regional hub for innovation and dialogue. BH Telecom, as host and market leader, continues to play a key role in connecting the private sector, regulatory bodies, and technology companies.
